VIP Wall: Cross Grain Scratch

The scratch is on a wall in the VIP Cabin. It is cross grain which means that it runs perpendicular or at a different angle to the natural direction of the wood fibers/grain (across the grain). Cross grain scratches can be tricky to repair, as your eye will naturally and easily pick up the blemish/repair because of its across the natural grain. As opposed to “with the grain” scratches.

This wood panel wall has “figure” in the wood. Figure refers to the distinctive and often beautiful patterns, designs, or textures that appear on the wood, beyond the basic appearance of straight grain. Figure is typically caused by a combination of genetic factors, environmental influences, and how the wood is cut.
